Jrue Holiday Gets His First Triple-Double As The Sixers Take Down The Nets, 106-92

The Philadelphia 76ers have just taken down the New Jersey Nets, 106-92. They are now 4 1/2 games behind the Knicks for the sixth seed.

The Sixers have certainly turned it around as of late winning five of their last six. Ever since they started the season in the 3-13 slump, the Sixers record is a very solid record of 19-13.

In tonight’s match up against the Nets, the 76ers played an extremely tight man-to-man defense on them. This was very effective and they were always pressuring the Nets.

Their very tight defense mainly effected Brook Lopez allowing him just four rebounds and zero on the offensive side.

One aspect the Sixers flourished in, was foul shooting. I don’t know how times I have to say it, but hitting fouls shots is so important and usually determine who wins and loses the game. The Sixers did great by shooting 18 of 18 as a team.

On the offensive side, four of the five Sixers’ starters scored double digit points and we saw a great performance off the bench from Lou Williams who led the team with 26 points. Three players also recorded double digit rebounds including Elton Brand, Spencer Hawes, and Jrue Holiday.

But most importantly, Jrue Holiday recorded his first career triple double scoring 11 points, dishing out 11 assists, and hauling in 10 rebounds. He sealed the triple-double after grabbing his tenth rebound and when he did so you could see the smile grow on his face. He knew what he had accomplished.

The Sixers are on a strong run as they continue to contend in games night in and night out. This is a very positive sign for the future of the young squad as everyone played a vital part in winning this game.
