Odom has been in the league for 11 years and is a well-regarded power forward in the league. This season he averaged 14.4 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. Odom could be a short-term solution at the power forward slot and could definitely be an everyday starter. However, he is not much younger than Elton Brand so I think acquiring him is close to redundant.
Artest on the other hand is a piece of work and quite the character. Yes, he is a great defender so it would be good that we would not be missing the defense Iguodala brings to the table. But, I don’t believe that Artest is the right fit for the Sixers’ locker room and the young players.
In my opinion, I do not think the Sixers should execute this deal. Instead, I think they should explore different options such as the Minnesota Timberwolves.
According to this SI report, a league source described a trade of Iguodala to the Timberwolves in a package for the number two overall pick as “definitely real”.
With this pick the Sixers could go after Derrick Williams or Enes Kanter. Both of these players would serve as great fits to the team without a doubt.
The Iguodala trade rumors keep heating up as we inch closer to the draft and it seems like it is no longer a matter of if he will be traded but a matter of when he will be traded.
